Oulu Comics Center is the multipurpose center of Northern comics community. The basis of the Center is to increase comics knowledge and to bring forth both the comics and the makers. The Center is located at the Cultural Centre Valve in Hallituskatu 7 in Oulu. In Oulu Comics Center you can find:

Houkka (Kumiorava, 2025) on norjalaisen Jens K Styven nokkelaa tarinankerrontaa, kuivaa sarkasmia ja ihastuttavan ilmeikästä piirrosjälkeä yhdistävä strippisarjakuva. se on voittanut lukuisia palkintoja, saavuttanut laajaa arvostelumenestystä ja lumonnut lukijansa ympäri maailman!
Tämän albumin ja nyt esillä olevan originaalinäyttelyn myötä myös suomalaiset sarjakuvan ystävät pääsevät tutustumaan houkan ja hänen lähipiirinsä varsin värikkäisiin edesottamuksiin, vanhemmuuden iloihin ja suruihin, teknologian tuomiin haasteisiin, kaamoksen aiheuttamaan alavireisyyteen sekä muihin elämän ylä- ja alamäkiin!

Dunce is a comic strip by Norwegian comic artist Jens K Styve, combining sharp storytelling, dry sarcasm, and delightfully expressive artwork. It has won numerous awards, earned wide critical acclaim, and charmed readers all around the world!
With this album and the accompanying original art exhibition, Finnish comic enthusiasts now also have the chance to get to know Dunce and his colorful circle of friends — their lively escapades, the joys and sorrows of parenthood, the challenges brought by technology, the gloom of the polar night, and all the ups and downs of everyday life!
The comic book Houkka (Kumiorava, 2025) will be released at the Oulu Comics Festival, held from November 14–16, 2025.
New ideas are welcome and use of your own imagination is encouraged. The Center acts as the central hub for the Oulu Comics Festival and several other events. The Comics Gallery! at the Center is an open for all application based gallery space and it is located near the Valve Gallery and Northern Photographic Center’s gallery. The space has approximately 25000 visitors annually.
A comics archive is being collected at the Center where you can also buy local small press and other finnish comics organization’s publications. The Oulu Comics Center is managed by Oulu Comics Society, based in 1980.
