Residence Program: Iceland 2022

Due to Corona restrictions, we had to postpone the residence program from 2021 to 2022!

CALL: Residence program in Reykjavik in October 2022

Oulu Comics Center and The Oulu Writers’ Association in cooperation with Arts Promotion Centre Finland have reserved two residence spots for October 2022 from SÍM’s residence, Reykjavik, Iceland. This artist mobility supporting project is a part of the development operation of artist residence cooperation of Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and it’s goal is to provide easy-to-enter residence periods and internationalization for the artists.

The residence periods are aimed for professional comic artists, visual artists and authors who live and work in North Ostrobothnia or Kainuu (Lapland is also included in comics artists residence call).

SÍM is an association of Icelandic visual arts and it has two residences in the Reykjavik area. These reserved periods will be located in the Seljavegur residency near the sea in western Reykjavik. The residence artists will be provided their own room. Other spaces are shared with other residence artists (2-9 individuals).

The selected residence artists will receive 400 € (gross) for the cost of living and up to 500 € for the travel expenses. The residence is rent-free. One of the residences is for a comic or visual artist and another for an author. Both of them will be in October 2022.

In order to apply for the residence, an electrical form must be submitted by the date (which will be announced). The decisions will be given to the applicants during the summer. The selection is carried out by a group of experts which consists of operatives of the partners of this cooperation.
