    Tiia Salmelin: Unten kaupunki – Kuolleet puutarhat 1 -näyttely | exhibition

    Tiia Salmelinin verkkosarjakuva Kuolleiden puutarhojen ensimmäinen osa Unten kaupunki – Kuolleet puutarhat 1 (Pokuto 2021) on sarjakuvataiteilija ja taideopettaja Salmelinin syksyn uutuusteos. Näyttelyssä esitellään otteita teoksesta, joka ei ole vain kooste verkkosarjakuvista, vaan täysin uudelleen piirretty painettua albumia varten. 

    Fantasiatarinan päähenkilö Flar on äitinsä tavoin unennäkijä. Unet johdattavat hänet erämaiden halki mystisen kaupungin porteille. Flar uskoo löytävänsä kysymyksiinsä vastauksia unten virrassa seisovasta kaupungista. 

    A webcomic Kuolleet Puutarhat volume 1, Unten kaupunki - Kuolleet puutarhat 1 (Pokuto 2021) by the comic artist and art teacher Tiia Salmelin is newly published in print this autumn. The exhibition showcases samples of the book’s art. Rather than just a collection of her webcomic, the artwork was completely redrawn for the printed comic book.

    Protagonist of the fantasy story, Flar, is a dream seer just like his mother. The dreams lead him across wilderness to the gates of a mysterious city. Flar believes he will find answers to his questions in the city built in the stream of dreams.

The Oulu Comics Center has panels for every day to look, to read, to borrow, to buy and to draw. In the Comics Library, Sarjasto, you can experience panel filled moments and marvel on the spot or borrow and take home. Street art brings a riot of colors to the streets and fairways. The Oulu Comics Festival fills the city with panels once again in this year. The festival is the largest annual comics event in the arctic region. The capital of Northern Comics is a lively and inspiring meeting place in the field of comics culture.
