I grew up in a suburb on a hill in Reykjavík. Although I moved away twenty years ago, the neighbourhood travels with me. The drawings and text together are called "Heim" which in Icelandic can both mean home and world. I graduated with a masters degree in creative writing this past spring and "Heim" served as a prologue to my final project which was a collection of autobiographical short stories. The illustrations are naive and colourless because that's the mood of my memories. At the moment my band is doing a virtual reality video with the drawings and rebuilding my old neighbourhood from my memory with the band dancing in my old stomping grounds.
The Oulu Comics Center has panels for every day to look, to read, to borrow, to buy and to draw. In the Comics Library, Sarjasto, you can experience panel filled moments and marvel on the spot or borrow and take home. Street art brings a riot of colors to the streets and fairways. The Oulu Comics Festival fills the city with panels once again in this year. The festival is the largest annual comics event in the arctic region. The capital of Northern Comics is a lively and inspiring meeting place in the field of comics culture.
