During the residency Amr is working with his exhibition presented as a part of the Comics Effects exhibition at Oulu Museum of Arts on December 2-10. During his stay Amr is also creating his own comic album that deals the struggle with the visa application.<\/p>\n<p>Amr works vary from children comics to political daily satir. In his graphic stories he has a unique storytelling style to convay two scenario through the story.<\/p>\n<p>During the 5 day long Master Course organized in Liminka School of Arts Amr will guide the participants to charachter design and inking with the traditional French-Belgium style both in wacoom and with traditional nip. The master course will include open lectures, drawing demonstrations and face-to-face guidance. The ready comics will be published on a online comic magazine Ruutukaava hosted by Oulu Comics Center.<\/p>\n<p>Amr Mohammed Talaat (b. 1978) is currently working as Head of Caricature department at Tahrir newspaper in Cairo. He also works as an Instructor in fine arts Mansoura University, Egypt. Amr Mohammed Talaat is also doing caricaturist and Illustrator in several Egyptian and Arabic Magazines. \u00a0He has graduated from the bachelor degrees in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, Egypt. Amr is working on his PHD in the program of Faculty of Fine Arts - Helwan University Cairo\/Egypt. JP\u2019s comics are known for their beautiful coloring and detailed landscapes. The course will be a guidance into different coloring techniques and working with layers in Adobe Photoshop CS. On the course you will learn to color a basic newspaper comic strip and there will be guidance to continue working with already colored comics in Adobe Photoshop.<\/p>\n<p>You can bring your own scanned black and white and colored comic to the course and work with them. There will also be samples you can play with, so you don\u2019t need to have your own work in the course. To be able to participate, it is good to have a basic knowledge on Adobe Photosop, so you can just jump into the teaching. In the studyroom you will have all the equipments needed for the course. You can also bring your own laptop with Adobe Photoshop CS5 of newer and your own drawing table.<\/p>\n<p>JP Ahonen (1981) is cartoonist living and working in Tampere. His most famous works are \u00a0Villimpi Pohjola strip comics and political satire published in Puskaradio. Internationally he is known with his Perkeros comic album and Belzebubs online comics. He writes about student life and his music hobby, that are easy to identify whether you\u2019re young or old! He is currently working with new album called Suomen ihmisten historia, a nonfiction book for young people, together with Historian Teemu Keskisarja. Your vision doesn\u2019t probably correspond what Leka\u2019s albums look like. Don\u2019t \u00a0get disappointed. At least not yet.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>Kaisa and Christoffer Leka\u2019s comic books differ from the basic pattern. The pattern repeated in comic albums is strange for this couple.<\/p>\n<p>For Lekas all the books are individuals and they also look like it. Each albums are well considered combinations which are build up by the terms of the content. When the reader meets the book, the book should feel natural and also give small surprises by the format, paper, typography and binding.<\/p>\n<p>When building a book, Lekas are used to do collaboration with other professionals. Typographers, graphic designers and illustrators has been offering their knowledge to them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couple is highlighting that it is important to recognize that you don\u2019t need to know everything by yourself - the most important thing is the idea and that you will find the right person to make the thing. Ready albums are always made by many hands.<\/p>\n<p>During the years, their team has been collaborating with indian street artists, hindu monks and internationally recognized font designers.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>By thrusting their own vision, couple has been gathering markable visibility in the field of comics. Albums have been priced both gold and silver prizes and many of the albums have found their place from the best looking books.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>Lecture based comic master course will present the detailed process from two albums, Time After Time (2014) and Imperfect (2017).<\/p>\n<p>On the course there will be talk about the publication event and organizing an exhibition and marketing campaign. There\u2019s also time for discussion on the course.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>Cristoffer Leka is a graphic designer and a publisher. He is graduated as MA in arts. He teaches typography and graphic design at the Lahti University of Applied sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Kaisa Leka is a cartoonist and she is known beside the comics about her robot legs. H\u00e4n opettaa omien t\u00f6idens\u00e4 ohella Lahden Muotoiluinstituutissa typografiaa ja graafista suunnittelua.<\/p>\n<p>Kaisa Leka on sarjakuvapiirt\u00e4j\u00e4, joka on taiteellisen ty\u00f6ns\u00e4 ohella tullut tunnetuksi tyyppin\u00e4, jolla on robottijalat.
