This time, the second year of the event, three winners will be announced in the Comic Strip World Championship competition. In addition to the world champion, the 2nd place runner up and the audience’s favorite will also receive fame and glory. More information about the competition can be found at: http://www.oulucomics.com/fi/cswc2021/. The winners will be announced by jury representatives and cartoonists Sami Nyyssölä and Daniel Og.

Karoliina Korhonen, artist of the world-renowned Finnish Nightmares comic books, will arrive to be interviewed by the ceremony host Nyyssölä.

Superhero wrestler Black Peider is an alter ego of comics artist Petteri Tikkanen. The artist will be interviewed in a laid-back manner by Asta Salomaa. World peace will be proclaimed through the world with a smile by the Oulu-born phenomenon, Air Guitar World Championships. Black Peider, who placed second in the competition in 1999, knowing that the pen is mightier than the sword now grabs the air guitar in the name of peace.

In addition to the year-round functioning Oulu Comics Center and the annual comics festival, comics library Sarjasto operates in the area. Librarian Soile Hirvasniemi will introduce the library.

This year the comics residency organized by Oulu Comics Center and the Liminka School of Arts welcomes the resident artist Daniel Og from Brazil. Tessa Astre from the Liminka School of Arts will interview Og on his published work and his thoughts on the nordic comics scene.

Comics are a fascinating and versatile means of expression. Oulu-born comic artist Mari Ahokoivu, who now works in Copenhagen, will arrive to discuss with the several aforementioned artists about comic strips and other viewpoints regarding the utilization of comics.

On the live stream broadcast, we will also present shining works of art and their artists of the Lumo Light Festival, which is organized at the same time as the Oulu Comics Festival, from 19th to 21st of November.
