We are happy to announce that we had 27 amazing applications all around the world to our first residency program organized together with Liminka School of Arts. After a hard selection together with the Director of Oulu Comics Center Harri Filppa, Comic Teachers Tessa Astre and Mikko Jylhä and the director of the Art School Ari Karvonen we had two finalists competing at the end.
After the second round we decided to invite Amr Mohamed Talaat an artist from Cairo, Egypt, to be our guest for the late Autumn. Amr Mohamed Talaat is currently working as Head or Caricature department at Tahrir newspaper in Cairo and as an Instuctor in fine arts Mansoura University. Amr Mohamed Talaat is a freelance Illustrator and Comic Strip artist in various Egyptian ans Arab magazines. During the residency program the artist will have open workshop at Liminka School of arts and open lecture at Oulu Comics Festival held in December. Amr Mohamed Talaat takes part to the Comic Effects exhibition at Oulu Museum of arts and there will be a publication about the comics the artist makes during the residency period.
